Southwest Regionals Ultimate Tournament
Oct. 5-6, 2002

Field Location: U.S. Air Force Academy
Colorado Springs, CO

Volunteers:
We need 'em to help line fields Thursday and Friday, starting at 10am both days. If you can help, email Tony or call him at home before Thursday at 719.593.0500, or on his cell phone Th-F, 719.200.6703. We'll have everything needed at the fields.

Hotel Info:
The primary hotel for the tournaments will be the Comfort Suites/Sleep Inn, located near exit 150, at the intersection of I-25 & N. Academy Blvd, just behind the Radisson (on Kelly Johnson Blvd). The hotel is approximately 10-15 minutes south of the fields, and is walking distance from a Denny's, McD's, Wal-Mart, KFC, etc.. For a map of the hotel area, click here. The hotel is really two hotels in one, they are connected and share the same indoor/outdoor pools and hot tub, etc, but the rooms offer different ammenities and have different rates. We have blocked out rooms at both hotels. NOTE: Regionals is the same weekend as the Air Force/Navy football game, so DO NOT DELAY in making your reservations at any of the following hotels as they will fill up quickly! Seriously, DO IT NOW! You have been warned.

The Sleep Inn offers your basic hotel room, i.e. 2 beds, bathroom, TV, table and dresser. Tourney Rate: $58.49 for a 2 queen beds or king & sleeper sofa. 32 rooms available.

The Comfort Suites offer separate bedroom and living space with each room having a satellite TV, two-line data port phone, and convenient work and sitting area. All suites are also equipped with microwaves, refrigerator, and large mirrored vanities and coffee makers. Tourney Rate: $71.99 for a 2 queen beds or king & sleeper sofa. 21 rooms available.

To reserve rooms at either Comfort Suites or Sleep Inn, call 719-536-0731 and ask for Barb and mention "Ultimate Frisbee".

Other Hotels in the immediate area of I-25/Academy Blvd.:

Drury Hotel: We have an additional 10 rooms blocked here. The Drury is just across Academy Blvd. from the Comfort Suites. It features a heated indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub and free continental breakfast. Tourney Rate: $59.99 for a double. Call 719-598-2500 to reserve and mention "Ultimate Frisbee".

Days Inn: 10 rooms available here. Indoor pool and hot tub, continental breakfast. Tourney Rate: $59.99, call 719-266-1317 and mention "Ultimate Frisbee".

Super8 Motel: I-25 & Academy, 719-528-7100

Red Roof Inn: I-25 & Academy, 719-598-6700

Candlewood Suites: Similar to Comfort Suites, 6500 N. Academy, 719-533-0011

Directions to Playing Fields

The US Air Force Academy is located just a few miles north of Colorado Springs on I-25.

From I-25, take exit 156B and go west on Northgate Blvd. This year you will have to stop at the guard station. At least one person in each vehicle will have to show an ID. Plan for extra time in getting to the fields due to this. Follow Northgate Blvd west past the entrance guard all the way west until it turns south. Then take the first left.

The fields (indicated on the map by the green box) will be on the east/left side of the road. There is a parking area east of the fields.

Important things to remember:
* DOGS must be kept on a leash at all times.
* You will be asked for I.D. when entering the gate. Vehicle searches are possible.

The SW Regionals Party...

...(will likely be) at Joe's Crab Shack from 9pm - 1:30am Saturday night, it's a 5 minute walk (stumble?) down Academy Blvd. from the hotels (see map). Look forward to free domestic drafts/bottles, with all well drinks, micros, wine and shots at at happy hour prices. Joe's is also going to provide complimentary appetizer platters all night (shrimp, crab, catfish fillets, etc), and they are clearing out the lower dining area for a dancefloor. Their patio will be open if weather permits for those who wanna smoke/puff/sit outside and suckface. The Sectionals party at Joe's was a complete blowout, so don't miss this one. Have a good time and don't forget to tip your bartenders.
