Leo Dicaprio's movie The Beach helped make Ko
Phi Phi one of the most popular destinations in all of Thailand. In
fact, Ko Phi Phi (KPP) is actually two islands, Ko Phi Phi Don
and Ko Phi Phi Leh. The latter is offically uninhabited and Maya
Cove on the western coast served as the location for the film. Ironically,
the better beaches and calmer waters are found on the east coast of KPP
Leh (pictured). Both islands offer great opportunities for sea
kayaking and snorkelling, especially day excursions to KPP Leh, and Monkey
Cove on the north side of KPP Don. KPP Don also offers a wide variety
of nightlife and restaurants, a 3-star hotel and a range of activities,
including rock climbing, diving, paddling, trekking and beach soccer. |
